The City of Zurich relies on our expertise for its redesign
Achieving great things together: We contributed our many years of experience in UX, accessibility, web design, and web development to the City of Zurich's new website. Working hand in hand with the CMS team at Organisation und Informatik Zürich (OIZ) and the Internet services department at the City Chancellery (IND), we created a completely revamped website. It focuses on the concerns of citizens and impresses with its modern, user-friendly design.

Project description: Foundation for a flexible and efficient website
The core of the project was a new, flexible structure for the content management system (CMS). We ensured that the editors of the City of Zurich could maintain their diverse content easily and efficiently. To this end, we developed a wide range of templates – from normal pages to news, publications, and events to official announcements. Special formats, such as city council resolutions and forms, were also taken into account. To make the work even easier, certain content, such as official gazettes, is even imported automatically.
Another important step was the central management of access rights. This clearly regulates who is allowed to edit which content. At the same time, a modern system for managing images and videos ensures that all media content is played efficiently and in the right place.
Established long-standing structures vs. agility and flexibility
A project of this magnitude presented challenges: many departments had their own ideas, which required good coordination. At the same time, our standards were high: top rankings on search engines and complete accessibility. In parallel, we introduced agile processes in an environment with fixed structures—an exciting task that we mastered.
Creating structures together and ensuring further development
When relaunching the website for the City of Zurich, we were more than just a service provider—we were an integral part of the team. Working hand in hand with OIZ, we contributed our expertise to accelerate the development processes and get the most out of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
The biggest lever here was the switch to agile methods. The result: shorter development cycles, faster releases, and the ability to respond flexibly to the wishes of the various departments. By establishing clear responsibilities and better monitoring, we created the basis for a stable and sustainable web presence.
