Project Description
We were commissioned to design and implement a new website for Bertschi Bakery. From the initial web concept and technical implementation to the introduction of a headless CMS, we supported the project holistically.
Based on defined use cases, we developed the website structure and created wireframes to define content and functionality. The implementation followed the new design and design system and included, among other things, a digital product catalog with a PDF generator, a secure login area, and the integration of the Comarch-ERP for the automated management of more than 700 products.
In addition, we supported Bertschi Bäckerei AG in introducing an in-house solution for product photography and set up the headless CMS Storyblok individually. In this process, we acted as the central interface between the client and the involved internal teams.
Challenge
Digitization of an extensive product portfolio
The central challenge was to migrate a complex product catalog with more than 700 products into a modern web platform, while specifically addressing both external users and registered B2B customers. At the same time, existing internal processes needed to be simplified and the manual maintenance of product data and images significantly reduced.
In addition, the project required the integration of an ERP interface as well as the implementation of a secure login area, without compromising the usability or maintainability of the website. In parallel, a flexible CMS structure had to be created to enable the client to manage content and products efficiently and independently.
Our Approach
Efficient processes meet modern web technology
To implement the new website efficiently and future-proof, we developed a clear web concept based on defined use cases and wireframes. These formed the foundation for a structured information architecture and the targeted development of the required features. The technical implementation was based on the new design and design system, ensuring a consistent user experience across all areas.
A central element of the project was the digitization of the former print product catalog. Through the new website, products can be clearly assembled, collected in a favorites list, and used to generate individual product catalogs in PDF format. This was complemented by a secure login area that allows registered customers to access detailed product specifications and provides clearly segmented information.
To sustainably optimize internal processes, we integrated a Polynorm ERP interface that automatically synchronizes product data and images.
In addition, we supported Bertschi Bäckerei AG in implementing an in-house solution for product photography. New products can now be professionally photographed in a photobox and automatically transferred to the CMS. As the technological foundation, the headless CMS Storyblok was introduced and individually configured, enabling content to be managed flexibly, efficiently, and with long-term scalability.
